OIW Membership Survey 2009

OIW Membership Survey 2009

Update

On Nov. 3, 2009 the OIW Membership Survey was mailed to all members for whom we have contact information. However, a few members on our membership master list have not provided an address, phone number or email, so they did not receive a survey. As well, some surveys are being returned as addresses have changed; where we are able to obtain the current address we re-mailed the survey. If you know of someone who has not received a survey, please ask them to contact survey project manager, Donna MacLellan at (613) 244-3933 or email her at donnamac1@rogers.com. And if you have moved and not forwarded your new address, also advise Donna.

A note regarding confidentiality: Donna logs in each survey personally, as it arrives, then records the name if given, for both the prize draw and for the month’s free membership, and finally blacks out the name assuring comments are not traceable. If you have not yet completed your survey please do it today. Help shape OIW to meet the needs of the future.

Calling for volunteers: PHASE II - The Analysis

Background: The survey project is now moving to the exciting Phase II. Initial analysis will get underway in December and deeper levels of analysis will continue until February 2010. The consolidation of all narrative comments and point-form answers from all surveys will be made available to members electronically as soon as possible so that our members can see how other members have responded to the survey. In addition, at the February program meeting, the board will present its recommendations and plan of action, i.e., what suggestions for program or services that members have proposed that we think we can reasonably undertake.

What can you do to help?

Donna is seeking approximately three OIW members to develop from the first level analysis, proposals for program/service delivery. These proposals or survey Monographs, as we call them, will be developed around strong or recurring themes, topics or issues noted in the survey responses. Through developing monographs, members can directly contribute to the potential development of new programs and services. The monographs will constitute a mechanism to address desirable suggestions for program/ service delivery that individual board members will not have time to undertake on top of their current duties. If members become involved and volunteer to work on these suggestions, there is greater chance for them to become a reality.

The work will begin by mid-December and run through to the February program meeting. A word of warning: a key chunk of work is required mid-December to mid January involving attending one or two meetings at a mutually agreed upon time and place and you roughing out a proposal or assisting to do one. It could be for a program or service you personally want to see OIW undertake, as long as the survey results support it. Critical thinkers and motivated action-oriented members should contact Donna. They will become part of the exciting Phase II Working Group, now composed of Donna MacLellan, Director of Volunteers and Randy Ray, Director of Communications.
