OTTAWA INDEPENDENT WRITERS BOOK FAIR 2010

The Ottawa Independent Writers Book fair is to take place this year at a new location, Dominican University College, at 96 Empress Ave. near Somerset and Bronson. The dates are Saturday, Nov. 20 and Sunday Nov. 21.

It is early in the planning process but the committee envisages an event with broader appeal than past book fairs in a bid to draw larger crowds. Ideas under consideration include a workshop for writers in a separate room at the university, likely on the Saturday. We are also considering renting tables to artists and linking the book fair with public tours of the building, which is quite historic and which includes a library and a church. Another possibility is author readings, which would take place in a room separate from where authors will display their books.
